All About Mrs. Evans
Mrs. Evans, formerly Ms. Chatman, has been employed with Duval County Public Schools since 1994. Her service to students began at San Pablo Elementary School where she taught fourth grade science and English for two years.She then moved to Highlands Elementary and George Washington Carver and taught first and second grade students. After completing one year, she was hired as an intermediate grades teacher at Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary School and remained there from 1997-2001. During the 2001-2002 school year, Mrs. Evans served students as a Media Resource Teacher at Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School. She was promoted as a Math and Writing coach during the 2002-2003 school year at Rutledge Pearson Elementary school. Mrs. Evans remained at Rutledge Pearson until the 2006-2007 school year and went to Lake Forest Elementary to serve as the Fast ForWord coach. From there, she became a coach for the District's software initiatives and serviced Alternative school students at Mattie V. Rutherford, Duval Juvenile Justice Sites and Grand Park Alternative school from 2007-2009. Mrs. Evans, then became an Assistant Principal at Highlands Middle School for the 2009-2010 school term and is currently 6th grade Assistant Principal at Eugene Butler Middle School.
Mrs. Evans has a passion for students in challenged schools settings. She feels that her compassion, understanding and her love for people is exactly what it takes to change the image society has towards challenged students.
